The Ministry of Economy and Commerce yesterday concluded its two-day international workshop on “Achieving Effective Consumer Protection and Competition through Cross-Border Co-operation”.
The event, organised in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Co-operation Council and the US Federal Trade Commission, brought together experts and specialists in the field of competition and consumer protection.
Four sessions tackled a number of topics yesterday pertaining to e-commerce and consumer protection, the role of social media in raising awareness about consumer rights and promoting competition.
Participants also discussed how to benefit from and make use of consumer complaints in addition to creating complaint databases.
Cross-border co-operation between GCC countries and the US Federal Trade Commission in the consumer protection and competition field was also taken up in one of the sessions.
