Al Wakrah produced a late burst of goals to come from a goal down and defeat Mesaimeer 3-1 yesterday.
Mesaimeer have already been relegated and had nothing to lose. They came out playing attacking football and took the lead in the 22nd minute through Adam Traore.
But just before the end of the first half, Mesaimeer conceded a penalty and Sebastian Saez stepped and converted from the spot to bring Wakrah on level.
The second half didn’t see any goal action for a long time but just when it looked like Mesaimeer might register back to back draws, Wakrah struck twice to produce a dramatic end to the match.
First Maher Yousef found the back of the net in the 88th minute and then Saez scored his second goal of the match in the 90th minute to help his team grab all the three points.
This win takes Wakrah up to ninth place in the standings while Mesaimeer remain 14th with just five points to their name.
