Serandeep-B scored a thrilling one-wicket win over Gulf Lights to win the Division II title in the 11th IBQ Masters Cricket Tournament last week.
Winning the toss, Gulf Lights elected to bat and were all out for 121 runs in 16.3 overs. Hamid was outstanding, scoring 33 runs with 5 sixes off 13 balls before he was bowled by Prakash. Azhar was bowled by Hassan for 21 runs with a six and a boundary and Wahid contributed 19 runs with a six and 2 boundaries.
Hassan bowled well to claim 4 wickets, Bandula took 2 wickets while Janaka, Upul, Chanaka and Prakash chipped in with a wicket each.
In reply, Serandeep-B according to the tournament rules were penalised 2 overs for having one batsman less while batting. So they had to score 122 runs in 18 overs.
Good bowling restricted Serandeep-B to 55 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the first 10 overs, but some lusty hitting by Prakash saw them cruising to victory at one stage. However, Prakash was bowled by Tajuddin for 47 runs including 6 sixes and a boundary off 24 balls.
Serandeep-B needed 12 runs off the last over. Upul hit 2 sixes to carry the team to victory, remaining not out on 24 runs off 18 balls.
Tajuddin bowled well to claim 3 wickets, while Samed, Wahid, Azhar, Arif. M. and Altaf took a wicket each.
 Prakash of Serandeep-B was declared man of the match and also the best batsman of the tournament. Tajuddin of Gulf Lights was adjudged the best allrounder, Mohsin of Metabo the best bowler and Sanjay of QVC the best wicket-keeper.
