Mission20, a youth organisation actively involved in social activities, celebrated its ninth anniversary recently with small group of officials, volunteers and members, mainly the youth. The celebrations witnessed the launch of the logo for the 10th year and a revamped website. A motivational speech was made on the occasion by Habibun Nabi, first patron of the organisation, on ‘youth, individuals and corporates to join hands in the duty towards humanity’ besides a road safety pledge with Aster Safe Roads Campaign.
The event included a brainstorming session with attendees divided into three teams to work and present their ideas on different awareness projects under any of the Mission20’s five objectives — Education for Underprivileged, Youth Empowerment, Community Development, Sports & Fitness, Health & Environmental Awareness.
“If we have to define our nine years of success in a few words, two Guinness world record certificates especially the one with Qatar Charity, new logo since 2014, Mission20 Hall at Kainat School … would be some of the highlights,” said 23-year-old Amanat Solanki, Founder & Chairman, who started Mission20 in 2007 at the age of 14.
“Our journey as students and now professionals has been with lot of ups and downs but with lessons of life throughout. Our first inspiration was Shakil Ahmed Kakvi, founder of Kainat Foundation, his words, his life experiences and his own mission,” he added.
Mission20 has defined its existence very clearly in its mission statement which is to focus on its five core objectives by organising social responsibility events, initiatives, fundraisers and awareness campaigns with corporates, organisations, institutions and individuals; and involve the youngsters to play an important role in them.
The highlight of the anniversary celebration was the launch of the council of Patrons, the first patron who was recognised at the event was Habibun Nabi being the long-term supporter of Mission20 especially in the field of sports.
Mission20 started just as a group of school friends for volunteering in environmental programmes, scouting and Kainat Foundation events but now at the end of nine years it is a well-known and trusted youth organisation focusing on its five core objectives. Currently, it is recognised as the social responsibility division of Solanki Mission Enterprises.
Mission20 was formed in 2007 with young school students to reach out to the community through scouting and environmental activities under the umbrella of Kainat Foundation, affiliated to Indian Cultural Centre (ICC).
It has worked independently to provide education for the unprivileged, hold charity fundraisers and create awareness for social concerns and other youth engagement initiatives.
Mission20 got officially recognised as social responsibility division of Solanki Mission Enterprises but works independently to organise social responsibility events, campaigns, initiatives for corporate businesses, organisations, institutions and individuals, fulfilling the five core objectives of Mission20.
The founder also revealed some future plans of international trips to give the volunteers some hands-on experience of humanitarian efforts in the needy communities.
Mission20 since its early stage was very keen on promoting education among underprivileged children. This was one of the main reasons of its formation under the umbrella of Kainat Foundation, an NGO which runs school in a village in India for education for underprivileged children and is also active in Qatar.
The Mission20 Hall for education activities in Kainat School is an example of how education for children is a key objective for Mission20. The founder has been very active with other organisations, travelling to different countries for providing education to those in need.
“We always thought and experienced that the energy of youngsters can do wonders, that’s why we have a team called ‘Friends of Mision20’ for anyone to join us for achieving objectives of Mission20,” says the Mission20 statement.
Mission20 has been very active in different community development initiatives like awareness as traffic safety, Ramadan projects, helping those in need, connecting those in need with those who can support are the main activities as a part of this objective.
