Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), under the patronage of HE the Minister of Finance Ali Sharif al-Emadi, has held the graduation ceremony for its third cohort of the Kawader programme.
This year, Kawader’s third cohort featured 32 young Qataris who have recently graduated and are eager to take on leadership roles in the country’s financial services sector
During the ceremony, HE al-Emadi congratulated the students on their accomplishment and encouraged the industry to continue supporting Kawader as part of its responsibility towards developing Qatar’s human capital.
Dr Abdulaziz al-Horr, CEO of QFBA, said in a speech: “We congratulate every graduate on the completion of the Kawader programme. We also congratulate the industry for playing big role in sponsoring and hosting the programme this year.”
“Every element of Kawader’s curricular modules is designed to develop and inspire advanced thinking and creative actions. Through experiential learning with local and international financial institutions, soft skills and personal development modules, as well as innovative training methods, QFBA’s capacity-building programmes assert its role as a key player in supporting a modern, industrialised, knowledge-based economy,” it was observed.
The Kawader programme was initiated by the Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFCA) and QFBA in 2013, aiming to enable young Qataris to acquire skills and build competencies in cross-functional areas in the financial sector. In 2015, it evolved to become industry-sponsored programme.
Kawader 2015’s main sponsors were QNB, Barwa Bank, Commercial Bank, Ahlibank, Qatar Islamic Bank, Qatar International Islamic Bank, International Bank of Qatar, al khaliji, Qatar Development Bank Standard Chartered and HSBC.
The learning initiative encourages talented young Qataris to pursue a career in the financial sector by providing them with internationally-recognised certifications backed by a holistic development for each participant based on inculcating various skill sets and professional industry-led learning.
The QFBA also delivers several certificate programmes in conjunction with international awarding bodies such as the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, Chartered Insurance Institute and Chartered Institute of Bankers.

During the ceremony, HE al-Emadi congratulated the students on their accomplishment and encouraged the industry to continue supporting Kawader.
