Honda’s all new CR-V has been adjudged the ‘Best Compact SUV’ of the year at the Middle East Car of the Year (Mecoty) 2015 held in Dubai.
The fourth generation 2015 CR-V offers a four-grade line-up including a 2WD with a whole host of new and standard features.
Following the launch, regional sales of the ‘minor model changed’ CR-V improved by 11% last year.  
Although Mecoty is in its second year in the region, the award is fast becoming one of the prestigious judged by 12 automotive journalists across the Middle East.
Commenting on the win, Shunichi Uchida, director of Honda Motors (Africa and Middle East) said: “We are pleased to note our customers and automobile critics appreciated our globally accepted new CR-V. With this recognition I am confident we will enhance customers’ confidence for the CR-V.”
Greig Roffey, head of Sales and Marketing at Domasco Honda observed that “the Honda CR-V excels in every area and checks all the boxes for a compact-crossover buyer. The record sales numbers year after year appear to confirm it.”
The CR-V has been enhanced with Middle Eastern customer preferences in mind. The new CR-V boasts of new exterior design which illustrates it as a smart yet tough SUV.
The CR-V offers lots of storage space. Powering the CR-V is a new Earth Dreams Technology direct-injected 2.4-litre DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine delivering 185 hp@6400 rpm and 245Nm torque @3900 rpm. The new power plant is paired with a continuously variable transmission, resulting in reduced frictional energy losses and class leading fuel economy delivering up to 14.9km/l  for the 2WD LX grade and 14.3km/l for the 4WD EX grade.
The CR-V’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure and its full range of air bags along with numerous passive safety features enhance occupant protection.
