Pakistan Professionals Forum Qatar (PPFQ), a forum to promote solidarity and networking among professionals of Pakistani origin, has selected its new executive committee to run the affairs of the organisation for another term.
PPFQ aims to promote networking among the Pakistani professionals — but is not limited to them — in Qatar.
Through different events and activities the year round, the forum works to enhance cross-cultural, professional and academic ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
The non-political and not for profit organisation of professionals that does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or caste is managed by an Executive Committee (ExCo) staffed by a team of competent and dedicated professionals who work on a voluntary basis with a desire to make a difference and a zeal to promote the objectives of the forum.
In the new ExCo, Mohsin Mujtaba takes over as Chairman while Uzma Shehryar takes the role of President from Adnan Kirmani who held both offices in the previous committee. Sana Salman is given the responsibility of General Secretary and VP Operations, replacing Shabber Ali who held the position in last ExCo.
The other members of the executive committee include Syed Zarrar Arif, VP Finance; Maryum Shahid, VP Communications; Fizza Alam Khan, VP Digital Media; Qaiser Anwar Khan, VP Social Media; Abdul Haq, VP Member Relations; Abdulrehman Nadeem, Akmal Rana and Humayun Peracha.
The selection of ExCo is a very democratic process, Mohsin Mujtaba the new chairman told Community at their first meeting held at Marriott Marquis recently.
“The previous executive committee asks for nominations from people and ask them to come forward and nominate themselves for being part of the executive committee. Then there are interviews and discussions held between the previous executive committee and then they select around 11 people to be members of the executive committee going forward,” said Mujtaba.
There were also elections for various positions such as chairman, president and general secretary.
“Today we have discussed operational teams that will be required to perform day to day activities of Pakistan Professional Forum —who will be looking after finance, events and communications,” he added.
The outlook of the organisation, he said, will continue to be the same as before.
“However, I think we would like to build up [on events related to Pakistan-Qatar relations] in the last year or so. We want to develop the image of Pakistani community in Qatar,” said the new chairman.
“We are looking at professionals of Pakistani community in Qatar to reach out to various organisations, whether educational or charity, and offer our expertise to help and guide the community members,” he explained.
They are also liaising with the business community in Qatar to explain to them what expertise Pakistani professionals can bring to Qatar for the development of the economy and the country going forward, he added. Mujtaba said they have already spoken to the Pakistan embassy and are looking at some ideas to work with them. PPFQ, he said, is a diverse group of professionals with people from different sectors such as finance, banking industry, oil and gas industry, medical profession and education sector.
