Al Jazeera Children’s Channel has introduced an advanced education initiative for all refugee children in the Arab world by providing free digital education tools in co-operation with United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
The channel and UNRWA have signed an agreement in this regard in Amman. The initiative aims at enhancing humanitarian support for refugee children by providing them with advanced learning tools, improving communication in the field of education across the Arab world as well as creating a unique edutainment experience for students and teachers.
Saad al-Hudaifi, acting executive general manager and director, Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, stated that the channel is keen on enhancing the potential of orphans and refugee children as well as providing them with learning opportunities and services to prepare them to be effective and productive members in their societies.
Al-Hudaifi said the channel has been providing a new learning initiative through talaam.tv, which is the first educational video-on-demand online platform in the Arab world in line with school curricula.
He confirmed that taalam.tv services will be provided free of charge to refugees in the Arab world in co-ordination with UNRWA. JeemTV will also collaborate with UNRWA by co-producing segments with UNRWA TV in countries or refugee locations covered by UNRWA, those segments will be broadcast on JeemTV, UNRWA TV, and added to taalam.tv online content.
