The Cabinet yesterday approved the amendment of some provisions of Cabinet Resolution No 26 of 2003 on the standing committee for recruitment.
The committee will decide on the recruitment of staff and workers from abroad to work in the government sector, as well as joint public and private firms, subject to the labour law following the examination of a host of factors, the official Qatar News Agency reported.
The factors include the type of labour required and its efficiency in performing the work, the applicant’s need for such labour and financial position, and the availability of adequate housing.
The Cabinet, at its regular weekly meeting chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani at the Emiri Diwan, also approved the staging of the third high-level meeting of the Middle East Aviation Safety Summit from May 24 to 26, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud informed.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet took necessary measures for the ratification of agreements on technical co-operation and air services between the governments of Qatar and Mexico, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Qatar Central Bank and Bank of Mexico and an MoU for co-operation in youth affairs between the Ministry of Culture and Sports in Qatar and the Mexican Institute of Youth.
The Cabinet also reviewed a letter by the Qatar Media Corporation chairman on a proposal to authorise the corporation to set up a company for media production and marketing, as well as the views of the Ministries of Finance and Economy and Commerce on the feasibility study for establishment of the firm in question, and took the appropriate decision.
