Woqod Vehicle Inspection (Fahes) will open a new technical inspection station in Al Sheehaniya, general director Eid Mohamed Hamad al-Kubaisi has said.
“The under-construction new station and one each at Al Wukair Area and Al Khor will open this year,” he told local Arabic daily Arrayah.
A station at Madinat Al-Shamal, still in the design phase, will include a lane for trucks. At Al Mazrouah Area, a central station will be built only for the inspection of trucks. It will include up to 12 lanes that can handle up to 600 trucks a day. The three stations are expected to be opened by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
Three new centres of Fahes were opened last year at Wadi Albanat, Mesaimeer, and Al Wakrah, with four lanes each.
He said that around 60 to 65% of the vehicles that undergo technical inspection daily pass the test, though the percentage was only around 30 to 35% before Woqod overtook the process.
