The University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) is accepting applications to its Bachelor of Nursing until March one for enrolment in August 2016. Suited for graduating high school students, this programme conveys the know-how and skills graduates need to positively impact their families, communities, careers, and the development goals of Qatar.
“UCQ is committed to Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly its human and social dimensions, educating the next generation of nursing professionals for Qatar’s evolving healthcare sector,” said Dr Kim Critchley, CEO and dean of UCQ. “Our undergraduate and graduate students alike are not only offered instruction in theory, but are provided with opportunities for hands-on learning that prepares them for a variety of probable real-life situations in their professional and personal lives.”
Since its establishment in 2007, UCQ has prepared over 230 students for healthcare careers. Approximately 600 students are currently at UCQ, benefiting from the expertise and extensive experience of UCQ faculty. Over the years, UCQ graduates have had success within and beyond the nursing profession, applying their training to local needs, while advancing their profession and Qatar’s National Health Strategy 2011-2016.
The Bachelor of Nursing programme prepares graduates for work in areas such as patient care, community health, research, as well as health and wellness education.
The programme also features a wide variety of courses, which include therapeutic interventions, nursing of families and bioethics. UCQ prepares students to start a career as skilled nursing professionals and equips them with the knowledge to provide the Qatari community with quality healthcare and wellness.
