The Ministry of Public Health (MPH) has announced the withdrawal of batch J89260 of Advil Suspension 100mg/5ml, 100ml from all the private pharmacies and hospitals in the country as a precautionary measure due to an issue with the viscosity of the product.
The Pharmacy and Drug Control Department at MPH has affirmed that all the hospitals under Hamad Medical Corporation and all health centres do not have this batch. All types of other drugs are closely monitored through testing random samples at MPH laboratories to ensure their safety.
Further, the department affirmed it has received a letter from the manufacturer of Advil indicating that the company has voluntarily withdrawn the affected stock of the drug amounting to 6,540 packages. Immediately, the department sent its inspectors to all private pharmacies and hospitals to withdraw the remaining stock of this batch.
The department also instructed the local agent of the company to withdraw the affected batch of the medicine from the pharmacies, stop its import and supply the department with a report on the withdrawn quantity.
