Doha
A diversion will be in place for approximately six months from Monday on Al Jemaliya Road in the western part of Qatar.
Traffic in nearly 2km on either direction will be affected. During the period, vehicles will be diverted to a newly constructed temporary road with one lane in each direction adjacent to the closed road (as shown in the map).
The diversion is required to allow for the upgrade of the existing road and the construction of a new dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction. The new road, which is part of Al Jemaliya, Al Leatouriya, and Al Sheehaniya Expressway project, will provide permanent features, including a median as well as pedestrian and cyclist pathways.
The construction of the project, a part of Ashghal’s Expressway Programme, aims to enhance the traffic capacity and road safety in the area. The project also includes a wide range of works to develop the area’s infrastructure, install intelligent transport systems, in addition to a comprehensive drainage system.
