Floods have recently hit some of Albania’s governorates.
The QC campaign was inaugurated in the presence of several officials such as Albania’s Social Welfare Minister Blendi Klosi, Qatar’s Ambassador to Albania Youssef al -Sa’i, Durres Mayor Vangjush Dako, and Shijak Mayor Ardian Kokomani.
Durres, Albania’s second biggest city, and Shijak are both in the flood-affected Durres governorate.

QC Relief Director Mohammed al-Ka’bi said the organisation decided to offer urgent relief to the Albanian people because of the humanitarian bond that connected them.
“I personally thank Ambassador Youssef al-Sa’I for coming to the inauguration ceremony. It reflects the true meaning of solidarity that Qataris feel towards Albanians in such a time of disaster. This also reflects Qatar’s true image of supporting poor and needy communities.
“I also thank the philanthropists for supporting and donating for the relief and developmental projects that QC implements in Albania and other countries around the world,” he said.
Shawqi Abu Seif, QC’s Office Director in Albania, said that QC allocated around QR400,000 for the project.
Each flood-affected family received a big food basket, containing basic supplies such as flour, oil, sugar, macaroni, rice, beans, drinking water and others sufficient for a month.
They also received two blankets and mattresses.
Seif said: “QC made sure to distribute the aid in the two most flood-affected governorates in Albania: Durres, Albania’s second biggest city, and Shijak. In a few days after the end of the campaign, the number of families who will have benefited will be 1,200.”
Minister Klosi praised Qatar: “Qatar has helped our people after the floods destroyed so many things. We also thank QC. Its projects are always distinguished and successful. It always has something to offer and what it offers is distinguished and different from other organisations.”
Through its social care projects, QC is currently sponsoring 2,232 people in Albania.
Among them 1,870 are orphans, 83 are families and disabled persons, 121 students, and 124 Qur’an teachers.
QC also supports some of the families of the orphans through small income-generating projects to help them meet their needs and become financially independent.
