The total assistance provided by the Zakat Fund at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for needy families throughout the country last January was about QR8.5mn.
The Fund said in a press statement yesterday that the aid varied between emergency funds for beneficiary families.
These expenses included monthly permanent aid worth QR7,182,277 and cut aid worth QR1,300,355.
The Fund distributes the aid after carrying out a survey to ensure it reaches the actual beneficiaries.
