Qatar International Rally 2016 and the Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) will rev-off at Doha Corniche today with a special stage.
The stage, with a length of 2.27 km, will witness the participation of 15 competitors as announced by Clerk of the Course Marwan Musabah. The official start of the rally is scheduled for tomorrow.
The rally, which will conclude on Saturday, has some really tough competitors vying for valuable points and bragging rights, even as 11-time MERC champion Nasser Saleh al-Attiyah is considered a favourite to win the 34th edition of the Qatar International Rally.
The event will also see some close action in Group N with many drivers from Qatar and across the world.
The cars will have to go through the technical check-up today.
Meanwhile, the event will
see more than 125 marshals working toward making the event a success.
These marshals will work to secure the event either technically or administratively along with a few government agencies.
With Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation president Nasser Khalifa al-Attiyah leading the efforts and many European teams participating in the rally, the event has also caught the attention of the media from across the region and Europe.
