One of the lowest maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in Qatar this winter, 16C and 10C, respectively, is forecast for Friday.

The maximum temperature of 16C is expected at Ruwais, Dukhan and Abu Samra, followed by 17C in Doha and at Mesaieed, Wakrah and Al Khor.

The minimum temperature of 10C is forecast at Dukhan and Abu Samra, followed by 11C at Mesaieed, Wakrah and Al Khor, 12C in Doha, and 13C at Ruwais.

Strong wind and poor visibility due to dust are expected on Friday across the country, as it was forecast Thursday also.

Last year, temperatures in Doha did not drop below 11C at night, but in 2012 a strong blast of cold air brought the temperature down to 9C, as recalled by weather forecaster Steff Gaulter in an article in Gulf Times earlier this month. Outside the city, the temperatures dropped even further, with Al Udeid recording a temperature as low as 4C

The intensity of winter this season has been varying between mild and intense levels. There were days this month when mercury touched 27C.
