Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdulla bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, Qatar University (QU) will host the launching ceremony of the fourth edition of the National CSR Report (Leaders’ Visions) on March 2.
During the ceremony, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, president of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), will be honoured as the CSR Person of the Year 2015 in recognition of his significant role in supporting CSR and for being a role model inspiring the youth of Qatar.
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister has written the introduction of the national CSR report, produced under the supervision of QU.
The report will be distributed to the Qatari embassies all over the world through the Ministry of Foreign affairs, one of the partners of the report.
QU, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the CSR Network, is supervising the production of the annual CSR report on a national level.
The report is prepared under the guidance of the College of Business and Economics at QU, with contributions from the college’s students. It is an academic report that documents the achievements of the national organisations in CSR, and monitors the progress in social development and the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The report committee selects the CSR person of the year from a number of inspiring CSR leaders. HE Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah was selected as the CSR person for 2014. The report honours as well the leading companies in CSR.
QU president Dr Hassan Rashid al-Derham, said: “Qatar has reached a high level in supporting the corporate social responsibility. This is reflected in the National CSR Report, as the CSR leaders’ visions are communicated with the major national companies and guiding their CSR achievements.”
