An exhibition titled Burst of Colours, featuring artwork by Qatari female artist Aisha al-Kaabi, was inaugurated at Katara Art Studios by the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara’s director of marketing and international and cultural relations Darwish Ahmed al–Shibani yesterday.
The artist has displayed 10 paintings in which acrylic colours have intensively been used in an attractive manner.
Speaking on the occasion, the Katara official expressed his happiness in hosting the first exhibition by a young Qatari artist.
“Katara will leave no stone unturned to motivate and encourage the Qatari talents that pave the way for introducing creative visions.”
The artist said she has combined plenty of colours that it might be perceived as scattered while in a comprehensive approach will be seen as elegant and cohesive.
“I am especially happy that this exhibition is taking place at Katara which is considered an art landmark attracting numerous Qatari, Arab and foreign art enthusiasts.”
Al-Kaabi started painting six years ago and has been engaged in abstract painting for four years now. In her artworks, Aisha features “audacious” colour combinations that require a high artistic sense and specific colour co-ordination patterns.
The artist, who studies psychology at Qatar University, has done several painting and visual arts’ courses.
