The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has spotted 23 consumer violations at the fish markets at the Doha Central Market and Al Wakrah. The violations were found by MEC inspectors during a surprise checks at outlets. At the Central Market, 16 violations were registered and seven in the Al Wakrah area. Most of the violations concerned not posting proper price tags, not posting the types of fish on display and not issuing purchase invoices. The penalties for such violations include fines starting from QR3,000 and reaching up to QR1mn, besides the administrative closure of the stall for various periods of time.
