The Qatari Armed Forces celebrated yesterday the graduation of 1,393 recruits of the Fourth (606 recruits) and Fifth (787 recruits ) Sessions of the National Service Programme for university and high school level students in Al Shamal Camp.  
HE the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Air Vice-Marshal Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim, attend the event in the presence of a number of senior military officers and officials, non-commissioned officers and parents. 
Recruits underwent during the two sessions military and academic programmes, infantry training, fitness training, light weapons training, shooting, field and battle skills, civil defence, first aid, culture of the community, self-development, religious and other programmes. 
On the occasion, HE Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim said in a press statement that the training programme is based on the concept of human development reflecting appropriate cultural, social, economic and political values of the community. 
The programme aims to take advantage of human resources to support armed forces in crisis and emergency situations, instill a sense of belonging to the homeland in the hearts of young people, boost their fitness level and prepare them to contribute in the areas of comprehensive development taking place in Qatar in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030 with the youth as its pillar, Al-Ghanim added. 
The growing demand from young people for the National Service Programme reflects rising patriotism among the Qatari people and reaffirms their commitment to their national responsibilities, al-Ghanim said, praising the high levels reached by graduates of the Fourth and Fifth Sessions and the efforts being exerted by those in charge of this programme. 
Al-Ghanim stressed that all programmes being implemented by the Qatari Armed Forces are the most sophisticated in the world and meet the security needs of the country, adding that there are periodic reviews on these programmes. 
During the ceremony, which began with a parade by the Infantry Regiment alumni, Brigadier Mohamed Misfer al-Ayadi, Chairman of the National Service Authority, said these courses aim to instill a sense of national belonging, patriotism and increase cohesion between Qatari citizens to be able to participate effectively in the defence of the homeland and its people.
