The Qatar Football Association has provided support to Qatar Foundation’s ‘QF Schools and College Football League U-19’ by offering generous cash prizes for the first, second and third place winners.
The first, second, and third teams received cash prizes of QAR30,000, QAR20,000, and QAR10,000 respectively. The American Community School Doha (ACS) football team was crowned champion, while Mesaieed International School (MIS) and Sherborne Qatar School came in second and third place respectively.
The ACS Doha football team will play an exciting match against QFA’s “School League” champion later this year, QFA announced. QFA’s “School League” kicked off on 23rd November, 2015 and brings together 20 Qatari high schools from across the country.
QFA’s provision of prizes to the league demonstrates QFA’s CSR commitment to continuously support football initiatives at the community and youth levels, while focusing on the broader objective of spreading football in Qatar and instilling its direct positive impact on the different segments of the community.
The action-packed tournament kicked-off on October 11 last year and ran until January 5, 2016. The competition took place on pitches three and four in Qatar Foundation’s Awsaj Recreation Centre and featured a total of eight teams playing competitive matches against each other, in aim to win the grand cash prize of QAR30,000. Matches were held every Tuesday at 3pm and 4:15pm.
