Abdulrahman Saad, Suliman Abdi and Anthony Raffa topped the 20 mark as Al Sadd recorded a convincing 96-72 win over Qatar Sports Club in the Qatar Basketball League yesterday.
Saad top-scored for the winners with 24, including 18 from three-pointers, while Abdi and Raffa posted 21 each in yet another one-side game in the competition.
Al Sadd were off to an 8-4 lead in the first five minutes and kept on increasing their advantage with the result that by the time the teams entered the final quarter at the Qatar Sports Club were trailing by 23 points (46-69) with very little chance of catching up.
Al Sadd scored 15 fast break points and also recorded 21 points from turnovers while Qatar Sports Club were way behind.
For Qatar Sports Club, Anthony White scored 25, while Jefferson Constevous and Faraj Aman had 18 and 14 respectively.
In the second match of the day, a team effort helped Al Rayyan brush aside Al Ahli 110-53.
With as many as seven players in double figures, Rayyan never let go off the lead in the 40 minutes, eventually winning by a 57-point margin.
Rayyan’s free-flowing game, which took them off the mark to 15-0 within the first couple of minutes, was too much for Ahli to handle.
James Dominic Davon led the Rayyan scoresheet on points with 22 of those, while Alexander Quintin Immanuel adding 20, besides notching up 14 rebounds.
Malek Salem Abdulla (15 points), Yasseen Ismail Musa (14), Mohamed Hassan Mohamed (14), Abdelrahman Abdelhaleem (11) and Tanguy Alban Ngombo (10) were the others in double figures.
For Ahli, Roberson Lamar Demond and Jimmy D Williams scored 16 points each, while Ndoye Elhadj Seydou pitched in with 13 points.
Today, Al Gharafa face Al Arabi in the first match of the day at 5:30pm and Al Khor take on Al Wakrah in the second match.
