Qatar’s top player Abdulla Mohamed al-Tamimi went down fighting 2-3 to Spanish qualifier Iker Pajares Bernabeu in his Qatar Circuit II first round clash at the Khalifa Tennis & Squash Complex yesterday. The sixth-seeded Qatari won the first two games 12-10, 11-6 but lost the next three 11-9, 11-3, 11-8 to go down in 52 minutes. The other Qatari in fray in the main draw, Syed Azlan Amjad, went down tamely to top-seeded Egyptian Omar Abdel Meguid 0-3 (11-5, 11-7, 11-7).
