HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, accompanied by HE the Minister of Public Health Abdulla bin Khalid al-Qahtani, HMC managing director Dr Hanan al-Kuwari and HMC’s Paediatric Emergency Services medical director Dr Khalid al-Ansari, opening HMC’s expanded Paediatric Emergency Centre in Al Sadd yesterday.
Hamad Medical Corporation’s expanded Paediatric Emergency Centre (PEC) in Al Sadd was officially opened yesterday by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.
HE the Minister of Public Health Abdulla bin Khalid al-Qahtani, HMC managing director Dr Hanan al-Kuwari and HMC’s Paediatric Emergency Services medical director Dr Khalid al-Ansari were present.
Following the opening ceremony, HE the Prime Minister toured the expanded emergency facility and inspected its treatment and procedure rooms and isolation units, designed to meet the healthcare needs of children. He was briefed on the workflow and the state-of-the-art medical systems used at the PEC for the evaluation and treatment of patients.
The expansion sees the PEC grow by 25% with an extra 22 new beds distributed in 13 treatment rooms, six triage rooms, an emergency procedure room and an isolation unit, bringing the total number of beds in the facility to 86. An extra 30 nurses have been hired for a total of 216 nurses. There are 65 doctors.
“This expansion supports our efforts to deliver the safest, most effective and most compassionate care to each and every one of our paediatric patients. It is an integral component of HMC’s Facilities Master Plan to extend our paediatric health services infrastructure to meet the healthcare needs of the nation,” Dr al-Kuwari said.
The expanded PEC will benefit the children and families in Al Sadd and surrounding neighbourhoods. The upgraded facility would ease wait times for patients. “The expanded facility allows for a more efficient flow of paediatric patients, with additional triage areas and examination rooms and staff contributing to a reduction in wait times,” Dr al-Ansari added.
The PEC in Al Sadd is located on Suhaim Bin Hamad intersection, Mirqaab Al Jadeed Area 39. It is open round-the-clock.
