In celebration of Qatar National Day, Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation launched the Katara Market at its esplanade yesterday.
The market comprises diverse pavilions and shops selling handicrafts, gifts and artefacts.
Speaking on the occasion, Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti said: “I am pleased to announce the launch of the Katara Market, which is located in one of the most unique places - the Katara esplanade. Organising the market stems from our commitment to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 in terms of preserving the heritage and disseminating awareness about its importance.”
He said the Katara Cultural Forum is holding the Katara Market “with the aim of turning cultural projects into industries by honing the skills of talented Qatari youth in the field of arts and culture in one place in order to achieve Katara’s objectives with regard to enhancing cultural industries”.
The market includes different sections for collectibles, antiques, ceramics, porcelain, clothing, Islamic art, glassware, food, games, gifts and used books.
