A total of 335 teams and 7,750 students are expected to participate in cultural shows and art and sports competitions that will be staged as part of the associated activities of Qatar National Day celebrations.
The events will be held across four localities in the country, the Ministry of Interior has said in a statement.
The Indian and Sri Lankan communities will showcase a cultural fiesta at Asian Town in the Industrial Area along with students from MES Indian School, Pak Shamaa, Stafford Sri Lankan School, Birla Public School, Doha Modern Indian School and Bright Future School.
The Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities will stage programmes at Wakrah Sports Stadium. Students of PEC School, Bangladesh School, Bhavan’s Public School, TNG, DPS MIS and Noble International School will perform there as well.
Rayyan Sports Club will host the Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian communities together with students from Philippine School Doha, Philippine International School Qatar, Ideal Indian School, Shantiniketan School and Scholars’ International School.
The Barwa Workers’ Recreation Complex will host cultural performances by the Nepalese community and Al Khor residential community.
Cultural performances and musical shows will begin tomorrow at 4pm in Asian Town, Wakrah and Barwa Workers’ Recreation Complex in Al Khor.
Art competitions and sports championships will begin on Friday at 8am at all the venues, including Rayyan Sports Club. Companies will participate in the art competitions to be held in Al Khor.
Schools, community teams and companies will compete in parades, Qatar cultural shows, general shows and songs.
The sports competitions will include football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, tug of war and running race.
These will see the participation of 64 teams in the cricket competition, 48 teams in football, 32 teams in basketball, 32 teams in volleyball, 64 teams in tug of war and 48 competitors in the 400m running race.
A concert in Wakrah by Pakistani troupes from Lahore and Peshawar, musical shows in Wakrah by singers from Bangladesh and a Qawwali ghazal concert in Asian Town by Sabri Brothers from Rajasthan are some of the highlights of the events.  
A T20 match is also to be played between Pakistan XI and Qatar XI in Asian Town.
