Fifteen people were killed in two separate road accidents in Bangladesh yesterday.
Of the 15, eight persons were killed in Sirajganj district and seven in Rajshahi district.
In Sirajganj, eight people, including four women and a child, were killed and seven others injured in a collision between an oil tanker and a human hauler on the Bogra-Nagarbari Highway in Shahjadpur sub-district.
Police said one of the wheels of the Baghabari-bound oil tanker from Ullahpara was punctured and the vehicle collided with the human hauler coming from the opposite direction in the area at about 6:15am, leaving five people dead on the spot and 10 others injured.
Of the 10 injured, two died on way to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital while one of them succumbed to his injures at the hospital later.
Officer in-charge of Shahjadpur police station Rezaul Haque confirmed the incident.
In another accident, at least seven people were killed and 30 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses at Chouddapai in Motihar area of northwestern Rajshahi city.
Assistant sub-inspector of Rajshahi Hospital police camp, Mamun, said the accident took place at around 1:30pm when a Dhaka-bound bus from Rajshahi collided head-on with another coming from the opposite direction, leaving three people killed on the spot and 33 others injured.
Four of the injured died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. The remaining injured people were being treated at the hospital.
