Bseiso: For bringing about a positive change.

RasGas chief venture officer, Nafez Bseiso stressed the importance of synergising client and contractor relationships to optimise investment costs, at a panel discussion during the 2015 International Petroleum Technology Conference which concluded in Doha recently.
The session, titled ‘Investing in energy and optimising costs for the long term,’ focused on the strategic essentials needed for a project to meet its objectives and avoid risk within the prevailing energy industry landscape, including the application of new and current technologies and best practices.
Addressing an audience of regional and global experts, Bseiso highlighted the importance of early planning, a clearly defined scope of work, and the need to develop stronger relationships with trusted partners able to deliver on safety performance and work quality.
“Companies need to award contracts to carefully selected contractors who respect and understand the importance of delivering world class projects within tighter budgets,” Bseiso said. “We need to have better alignment and a stronger collaborative approach on the project objectives, a robust risk management plan and enhanced communication across all areas of planning, design and implementation to ensure a positive and successful outcome. We have to inculcate the spirit of one team to optimise best results and share risks within the current global climate to bring about positive change.”
Bseiso was joined on the panel by fellow speakers Sheikh Khalid Abdulla MA al-Thani (chief operating officer, Engineering and Ventures, Qatargas); Didier Holleaux (chief executive officer, GDF SUEZ E&P International); Ali Raza (vice president, GM Advanced Solutions, Honeywell Process Solutions), and Graham Talbort (chief financial officer, Maersk Oil Qatar) at the session.
