Katara - the Cultural Village yesterday announced the line-up for Qatar National Day celebrations, featuring more than 43 events.
“The festivities at Katara are to be held on December 18 and 19 with the participation of different institutions, authorities and associations,” general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim
al-Sulaiti said.
There will be a military parade by the Emiri Guard, and various cultural and entertainment events. Qatari singer Mohamad al-Sai who first introduced the Qatari patriotic song in Arabic My Beloved Qatar, musician Abdulaziz Nasser al-Obadan and songwriter Abdullah al-Hamadi will be honoured on December 18 at Katara
Amphitheatre.
“A number workshops and exhibitions have been inaugurated at Katara this month in a bid to involve a wide range of visitors on the celebrations of Qatar National Day,” Dr al-Sulaiti said.
Katara’s national day organising committee head Abdulrahman al-Tamimi said that the festivities will be held on December 18 from 1pm to 10pm, and on December 19 from
10am to 10pm.
“We are looking forward to receiving a significant turnout of visitors from all walks of life to mark the great occasion and take part in the distinctive and unique
festivities,” he stated.
The events at Katara include horseback tours at the Katara esplanade, some international and national musical shows, para-jumping show by the Armed Forces, and fireworks.
Katara is hosting a Harrods Village this year, in addition to various traditional and heritage functions and fairs.
