Three El Jaish players topped the 20-point mark to power their team to a 79-58 win over Qatar Sports Club in the Qatar Basketball League at the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall yesterday.
Leon Macklin top-scored with 23, while Hani Abilmona and  Charles Legion contributed 21 and 20 respectively as El Jaish overcame a tough first quarter before charging to an eventually easy victory.
Macklin played the entire duration of the game scoring eight field goals and making all his seven free throws count, inspiring the other members of his team to give off their best.
Qatar Sports Club managed to test Jaish in the first quarter where they restricted them to a 2-point lead (17-15), but after that it was one-way traffic all the way.
At one point, Jaish enjoyed a 13-point scoring run (57-32) that pretty much deflated their rivals. For Qatar Sports Club, Rashad Woods top-scored with 23, while Anthony White had 18. However, none of the other players managed double figure scores.
In the second match of the day, Al Khor led throughout to beat Al Ahli by a 102-90 margin, with Ronald Rembert scoring a hopping 41 points.
Rembert fired in six three pointers of the 12 attempts he got and also scored off all his seven free throws. He was ably supported by Charles Abouo who netted 30, while Alen Hadzibegovic had 16.
Jimmy Williams excelled for Al Ahli with 34 points while Lamar Demond had 25.
On Tuesday, al Wakrah play Al Rayyan at 5.15pm followed by a match between Al Arabi  and Al Gharafa at 7.15.
