Al Zaman Exchange trounced hosts CDC by 137 runs to win Division II of the 27th CDC Cricket Tournament.
Put in to bat, Al Zaman Exchange put a mammoth 242 runs on board for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Sena, with six sixes and a boundary, played the destroyer-in-chief scoring 45 off 14 balls. Shafi added 38 runs, including three sixes and a boundary, before being run out, while Rohan scored 24 runs with three sixes. Sandeesh and Sharief pitched in with 19 runs each.
For CDC, Palitha took three wickets, Laxman two while Mahesh and Sumeer took a wicket each.
In reply, CDC lost wickets regularly and were wrapped up for 105 runs in the 17th over. Opener Mahesh scored 21 runs with 2 sixes and a boundary while Sumesh scored 19 runs with a six and boundary.
Sanjeeva and Shaji took 3 wickets each.
Sena of Al Zaman Exchange was adjudged Man of the Finals.
Tournament honour of Best Batsman was given to Akalanka of Force India, while Sultan of QVC was adjudged Best Bowler. CDC’s Laxman and Mahesh were given Best All Rounder and Best Wicketkeeper awards.
CDC’s Kadir was the Chief Guest at the prize distribution ceremony.
Before the match, a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for Late Mohamed AlShamlan, who was a pillar of the Qatar Veterans’ League.
Qatar Lubricants managing director Fawad Rana also agreed that the concluding tournament of the season, sponsored by QALCO, would henceforth be named Mohamed AlShamlan Memorial Cricket Tournament.
