Quintin Immanuel scored a match-high 27 points as Al Rayyan coasted to a 78-63 win over Al Arabi in the Qatar Basketball League last evening.
At the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall, Immanuel was in cracking form as he drained five three-pointers off eight attempts, while Dominic Davon chimed in with 20 as Al Rayyan overcame a slow start to win with a great deal to spare.
Al Arabi led 9-2 after the first five minutes but in the next five minutes Al Rayyan not only caught up but also took a 17-13 lead going into the second quarter. After that, it was Al Rayyan all the way as they comfortably closed out the match.
Edward O’Brien was the top scorer for Al Arabi with 21, while Mohamed Matalqah and Narcellius Soyebo had 12 and 10, respectively.
On Tuesday, al Gharafa play al Ahli at 5.15pm followed by a match between Al Sadd and Qatar SC at 7.15.
In the second match of the day, El Jaish thrashed Al Khor 101-86 with Leon Macklin scoring 28 points for the winners
Charles Legion with 23 points and Marone Ngom with 18 also excelled for El Jaish. For Al Khor, Ronald Rembert with 28 and Charles Abouo scored 24.
