Al Wakrah thrashed Al Ahli 92-60 in the Qatar Basketball League last evening at the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall.
Although Al Alhi were quick off the blocks, taking a 7-4 lead, it didn’t take much time for Al Wakrah to catch up and pull away, never to look back.
By the time the third quarter ended, Al Wakrah had taken a commanding 68-45 advantage which proved too much in the end for Al Ahli.
Adamu Saaka was the top-scorer for Al Wakrah with 25 points, while Calvin Cage had 19 and Yousuf al-darwish 17.
For Al Ahli, Jimmy Williams excelled with 27 followed by Lamar Demond with 21.
In the second match of the day, Qatar Sports Club edged Al Shamal 53-51. In a see-saw match, Qatar Sports Club held their nerves to pip their rivals at the post with a few seconds to spare. Rashad Woods top scored with 23 for the winners, while Khalid Adam excelled with 14 for Shamal.
Today, Al Arabi play Al rayyan at 5.15pm followed by a match between Al Khor and El Jaish at 7.15.
