A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an Asian expatriate man to two years in jail followed by deportation for stealing electrical cables owned by a contracting company.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that the convict was spotted by a private security guard as he tried to steal electrical cables from a construction site. He was driving a pickup vehicle accompanied by a number of other persons. When they saw that the guard saw them, they escaped with the cables that they had managed to grab.
However, the issue was reported to the police and investigation led to the convict. He denied being a part of the crime and said that he only owns the vehicle. Yet, the guard was able to identify him from among other persons, the daily added.
