Ooredoo has announced a partnership with Careem, the Middle East’s leading app-based car service, which will support customers’ travel needs across Qatar.
Careem enables customers to book and pay for a taxi in advance, fixing the journey’s cost and letting users to book on the web, via a mobile app, or by calling a dedicated hotline.
“Leading the technology markets in the region, this partnership is the first of its kind, by allowing customers to top up their Careem Credit accounts via their Hala or Shahry account,” according to a statement.
By exclusively launching with Careem in Qatar, Ooredoo customers can top up their Careem account to pay for their journeys in the denomination of QR50, QR100, QR200, QR300 or QR350.
One credit is equivalent to QR1 and, as an added bonus, customers do not have to use their credit card to book a car; they can book by sending the SMS and the denomination they would like to top up with (example 50) to 92248 and pay for the ride with their mobile phone.
To celebrate the partnership, Ooredoo customers can download the application and sign up using the promo code ‘Ooredoo’ to enjoy QR60 off on their first ride.
“Unlike other car services in Qatar, Careem allows users to choose the car type that best suits their needs, have the option of paying in cash, credit or through Ooredoo, and select from a host of first, business or economy class cars,” the statement adds.
The Careem application also automatically locates a user’s address using GPS.
Customers can then follow their driver in real time on the application map, and drivers will send an SMS to let customers know they’ve arrived. To ensure the best service, users can also rate drivers to help monitor and improve service levels.
