A delegation of Primary Health Care Foundation has visited Cuba to get acquainted with the Cuban experience in the field of primary healthcare.
The delegation led by Dr Mariam Abdul Malik, Director-General of Primary Health Care Foundation, included a number of the Foundations’ officials, including assistant director-general of clinical affairs, employment and workforce development, assistant director-general for administration affairs and joint services and director of the northern region.
During the visit, the delegation held several meetings, including one with assistant minister of health of the Cuban medical affairs and a meeting with the president of the Cuban company for the marketing of health services.
The delegation also visited a number of primary health care centres and Juan Omihirs Hospital to discuss the relationship between primary and secondary healthcare and the policy of transferring patients.
The Primary Health Care Foundation’s delegation was also briefed on the medical rehabilitation services in a specialised physical therapy hospital. It also visited the Latin American University of Medical Sciences in order to know the programmes of study to the field of medicine.
