The Sheikh Eid Bin Mohamed Al-Thani Charity Foundation has allocated about QR25mn for the implementation of urgent relief projects for the displaced Syrian refugees to help them cope with the winter.
The Foundation said in a press release yesterday, that the relief efforts are being implemented in co-operation with its partners within Syria and institutions working in the field of refugee response.
The Foundation said that among the most important projects, which are being implemented currently and over the next month, are the provision of food, drinking water and shelter, including buildings and restoring homes, house rental for families, caravans, winter clothing for children, women and elderly, mattresses, fuel and heaters.
The aid programme also includes medical assistance, such as first aid, medical staff, field hospitals and clinics, vital medicines and drugs, chairs for the disabled, as well as psychosocial support to children and mothers, it added.
The Foundation said that the relief projects are most needed during the current period, when Syria is experiencing cold weather, heavy rains and snow in some areas.
The Foundation confirmed that this aid comes in continuation of its efforts to support the Syrian people, which began even before the current crisis, stressing that it will spare no effort in providing various types of humanitarian support for refugees and displaced persons.
