Qatar has reaffirmed that it gives increasing care to business and human rights, stressing that protection of human rights is a strategic option and a cornerstone of the comprehensive reform policy which Qatar adopts.
This came in a speech delivered by HE the Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Human Rights Committee Sheikh Khalid bin Jassim al-Thani before the opening session of the high-level 4th Annual United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights, held in Geneva on Tuesday.
He said the implementation of the UN principles, namely protection, respect and fairness, are vital in the field of business and human rights.
He expressed the hope that the 4th Annual United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights would contribute to shedding more light on these principles.
He stressed that Qatar will spare no effort, through its membership in the Human Rights Council and the United Nations agencies and regional organisations, to effectively contribute to supporting the efforts related to protecting human rights.
