Sheikh Faisal with Leite: Support for economic partnership.

Qatar and Paraguay yesterday explored potential for co-operation and trade exchange, especially in the areas of food sector, poultry and grains.
This was discussed by Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) and a visiting Paraguayan delegation led by Gustavo Leite, Minister of Industry and Trade and Oscar Vicente, Minister and Economic Advisor to the President of Paraguay. Angel Barchini, ambassador of Paraguay to Qatar was also present in the meeting.
The meeting comes ahead of the visit of the President of Paraguay to Qatar early next year, which aims to strengthen cooperation with Qatar and support economic partnership plans.
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, QBA chairman, emphasised the importance of cooperation between the two countries to open channels and avail opportunities for partnership between the public and private sectors in both the countries.
“Due to the large development of the transportation sector in the world, it’s easy to build bridges between countries regardless of the geographical distance,” he said, stressing the importance of the success of the first common project as it will constitute a good marketing tool for other investors to come. Leite spoke about the potential cooperation and trade exchange with Paraguay, especially in food sector, poultry, grains, referring to the importance of food security.
“We do not see the partnership between Qatar and Paraguay confined its activity in our two markets only, but we aspire for major partnerships beyond the borders of the two countries to reach the world,” he said.
The meeting also discussed how to benefit from each other’s experiences in various sectors and the possibility of building joint ventures and also to work on attracting Paraguayan investors to invest in Doha.
