A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Syrian expatriate man to 10 years in jail and imposed a fine of QR200,000 for illicit drug dealing.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the Drug Prevention Department received a tip-off that a man was trying to sell out around 30,000 pills of Captagon, an illicit drug, valued at a sum of QR350,000. Eventually, the source negotiated the purchase process, after getting instructions from the police. Upon agreement on the sum and place, the source was directed to another Syrian expatriate at Madinat Khalifa North to hand over the money and take the drug. The process was monitored by the police and the convict was arrested on the spot, the daily added.
