HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani will visit Paris next week to attend a security exhibition and meet French leaders, diplomats said yesterday.
HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, arriving on Monday, will join French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve on Tuesday to launch Milipol, a showcase for equipment and knowhow about internal state security and terrorism, which alternates between Paris and Doha.
He will also lunch with his French counterpart, Manuel Valls.
France and Qatar have close economic and military ties.
In May, Qatar signed a multi-billion-euro deal with French defence group Dassault to buy 24 Rafale fighter jets for 6.3bn euros ($6.75bn).
Condolences sent to emir of Kuwait, German president
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent cables to the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah condoling the death of Sheikh Saleh al-Mohamed al-Khaled al-Mohamed al-Sabah.
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of condolences to President of Germany Joachim Gauck on the death of former West German chancellor Helmut Schmidt.
The Emir, the Deputy Emir and the Prime Minister have sent a similar cable to the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
Phone call from Kuwaiti leader
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received a telephone call yesterday from the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah.
They reviewed fraternal ties between Qatar and Kuwait in addition to a number of issues of mutual interest.
Al-Rumaihi meets Chinese official
HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi yesterday met the President of China Public Diplomacy Association and former Chinese foreign minister Li Zhaoxing, who is head of the Chinese delegation to the Sino-Arab Relations Symposium, currently in session in Doha.
Talks during the meeting covered bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.
