The College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) hosted its first Mowater Qatar 2015 Motor Show recently, gathering close to 1,000 people and 190 vehicles.
Visitors described the vehicles as some of the “most impressive and expensive” in Doha, which included exotic, classic and muscle cars, trucks, off-road vehicles, and motorcycles.
CNA-Q Engineering student Mohamed al-Khalaf won the “People’s Choice Award” after his 1969 Camaro Z28 was voted as crowd favourite. “The gleaming red, 8.1 litre, supercharged, 1,000 horsepower muscle car was hard to miss.”
“Mowater is a perfect event for CNA-Q to host,” said president, Dr Ken MacLeod.
“We know how loved beautiful and powerful vehicles are in this country, and we are pleased to provide a fun and safe venue for young people and families to come out and enjoy the best vehicles Doha has to offer.”
The event officially kicked-off with an appearance from three-time national Lebanese champion rally driver Abdo Feghali. Feghali, who is on his way to becoming a legend in drifting, parked his red Mustang on campus in the week leading up to the event to promote Mowater 2015.
Vehicles on display at the show ranged from a 1927 Bugatti to an Aston Martin DB9. The event welcomed car enthusiasts of all ages by devoting a portion of the event to a family fun zone and live entertainment area.
CNA-Q plans to make Mowater an annual event. Mowater is a precursor to another CNA-Q vehicle-related event, “Auto Safety Fair,” which will be held at the college in early 2016.
