Qatar has underlined the importance of promoting values of  diversity, tolerance, equality and the fight against racism, racial discrimination, and xenophobia.
This came in a statement delivered by Al Anoud al-Tamimi,  third secretary,  the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, at  the Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee) on the item (70), entitled “Elimination of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related Intolerance, “and item (71), entitled” The right of peoples to self-determination.”
Al-Tamimi said that Qatar believes in the importance of promoting values of diversity and tolerance, equality and the fight against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance, and extremism, especially since such practices do not only undermine the rights endorsed by the international human rights instruments, but also fuel the feelings of hatred, violence and threaten peaceful coexistence between individuals and communities.
She added, “We are concerned in the light of the evidence that the increase in racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and acts of violence based on ethnic grounds, and the use some of the new communications technology, including the Internet to disseminate discrimination and violence, a matter which confirms that racism can only be eradicated by unprecedented co-operation of the international community by  taking resolute action.”
She stressed that Qatar, represented by its wise leadership, is making efforts to combat racism, racial discrimination, and consolidate of the principles of equality and non-discrimination guaranteed by the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
