Golf fans across the GCC have the chance to step inside the ropes from 27 – 30 January and volunteer at one of the region’s most prestigious golf events, the 2016 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters. Tournament organisers are offering the opportunity for committed and dynamic individuals to get involved as volunteers for the prestigious event, which takes place annually at the Doha Golf Club.
Valerie Dalton, Volunteer Co-ordinator for Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, commented: “Every year we welcome more than 300 volunteers to the event and it’s always been such a great experience for everyone involved. Volunteering gives fans the chance to get closer to the action, meet like-minded people and develop new skills. And the best part is, anyone can apply for a spot. I think this is one of the most enjoyable jobs out there - year on year I’ve had the pleasure of welcoming volunteers from around the world to Doha Golf Club, coaching them through the four-day event and seeing them get so much pleasure out of this rewarding experience, it’s fantastic.”
The Commercial bank Qatar Masters is a world-class international sporting event that attracts a strong professional field including some of the top 50 players in the world but also welcomes a large spectator attendance every year. The tournament is considered Qatar’s annual ‘must-attend’ sporting and social event and widely known for bringing together the world’s best golf talent; the likes of Branden Grace, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson.
Commercial Bank Qatar Masters volunteers fulfil various integral roles on-event such as walking scorer, walking carry board, on course scoreboard operators, drive distance, marshals, TV assistants and driving range assistants.
Hassan al-Nuaimi, President of Qatar Golf Association said: “Volunteers are the heroes behind the scenes at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters. We are delighted that every year we get a huge influx of volunteers who are passionate about what they do and who are excited to be a part of the event. We are currently taking in volunteering applications so I encourage sports fans across Qatar to apply and get the chance to experience this spectacular event first-hand.”
