The QMMF Racing team achieved excellent results in qualifying for Round 6 of the Superbike European Championship, which takes place this weekend at the Circuito de Jerez.
Mashel al-Naimi will start in eighth position while Saeed al-Sulaiti will start in tenth, even as the conditions at the southern Spanish track kept changing on Saturday, with the first practice in the dry and the second in the rain.
While al-Naimi would prefer that the race be wet, teammate al-Sulaiti would love the contest to be held in the dry.
“My bike is not working very well on a dry track. Since we started out yesterday, I don’t feel as comfortable as I was at this circuit when we came to test here a few days ago,” said al-Naimi, who posted a time of 1:45.989.
“All indications are that the race tomorrow will be wet, and today we have achieved a good setup for those conditions; the track is quite slippery, but we set the fourth best time in the wet, so I would like tomorrow’s race to be held in the rain. As always, I want to thank QMMF and the team for this opportunity.”
Al-Sulaiti, who raced to tenth, his best qualifying performance to date, said, “This is my first time at this circuit, and it is a track at which I couldn’t wait to ride at. In the first qualifying session I managed tenth position, which is my best result in qualifying so far. I hope tomorrow’s race is dry, as the second session was wet and I wasn’t very comfortable. We have to work more on the setup in case it rains tomorrow, but hopefully the race will be on a dry track. I am sure we can do a good job. I want to thank the team and QMMF for the good work that is being done.”
