Qatar's population has crossed 2.4mn for the first time, according to data from the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS).
Alhough no break-up is available, data shows that Qatar has 2,412,000 residents as of October 31. The figures about the number of men and women are expected to be higher when the break-up is made available in a few days.
The latest figures show an increase of 8.8% in the population compared to the figures of the corresponding period last year.
The data also shows a 2.8% rise in comparison to the figures of September 30, the ministry said while adding that the country had more than 2,344, 000 residents. There were 1,766,817 males and 580,462 females in the country on September 30.
The population is expected to shoot up in the coming months except towards the end of December when usually a large number of residents are overseas.
In August, when a considerable number of residents were away, Qatar population had stood at a little over 2,187mn.
The previous highest figure was in May, when the country had approximately 2.347,000 people, it is learnt.
