A temporary closure of one lane each on the roads surrounding Al Hizm and Environment roundabouts and parts of Al Khafji Street will come into effect on Tuesday.
The closure will be for six months, according to an Ashghal statement, which said two lanes will remain open in all directions on the two roundabouts while access to schools, and residential and commercial establishments will remain open.
The works are part of the phase 2 and 3 of Al Khafji Street development project. Phase 2 includes converting the Environment Roundabout into a signalised intersection and widening Al Khafji Street from the Environment Roundabout to Al Shamal Bridge and from the Environment Roundabout to phase 1 of the project (Jelaiha Intersection). There will be four lanes instead of three in addition to developing and widening the Environment Street.
Phase 3, the final phase of the project, includes converting Al Hizm Roundabout to a signalised intersection and widening Al Khafji Street from Al Hizm Roundabout to become four lanes instead of three.
