The world’s national Olympic committees will hold their next meeting in Doha rather than Rio as initially planned since Brazil is too busy getting ready for the 2016 Games. The decision was made yesterday at a two-day meeting of the Association of National Olympic Committees in Washington. The association had been scheduled to gather in Rio in early April of next year as the Brazilian city by the sea rushes to complete preparations for the 2016 Summer Games. The meeting will now be held in November rather than April. Qatar had already offered to host the ANOC assembly for 2017 anyway, so it was asked to stage the one being held next year, ANOC secretary general Gunilla Lindberg said.
