HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday inaugurated the headquarters of the South Security Department and Al Wakrah Services Centre in Al Wakrah.
Soon after the inauguration the Prime Minister toured the administration building sections and was briefed on the latest facilities, security services and the modern electronic devices at the complex. He also inspected Al Wakrah Services Centre affiliated to the Unified Services Department, which provides all services relating to traffic, passport, and other services.
Speaking on the occasion Brigadier Mohamed Ahmad al-Atiq, assistant director of the Nationality, Borders and Expatriates Affairs Department, said  the unified service complex is spread over 2,559sq m and the available services include expatriates’ passport and traffic services.
An additional building is setup for the Qatari passports services with special areas for men and women and it offers all services for the citizens including issuance of the passports, identity cards and all related certificates for citizens.
Special facilities are made for people with special needs and senior citizens with special entrance and counters.
At the briefing held after the inauguration, Logistics Directorate general director Brigadier Hisham Ibrahim al-Qusaibi, South Security Department director Brigadier Mohamed Jassim al-Sulaiti, Building Affairs Department director at Ministry of Interior Brigadier Mohamed Thani al-Mudhahaka, and Public Relations Department director Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah were present.
Brig. Al-Qusaibi said the newly opened building represents a substantial development in providing security services, equipped with latest technological solutions. He added that the ministry was now setting up many new buildings for different departments like Civil Defence in Wakrah, Security Centres in Mesaieed, Public Guards building and the new headquarters of the Ministry of Interior.
